Individualism is completely different for everyone. I see it as the enjoyable things in life, the things that make you happy regardless of another’s opinion. To me, being an individual is knowing that no person could change the person you are. It’s analyzing yourself and embracing your natural personality. It’s being pleased with who you are and what you do. It’s the way you perceive things and how you let things affect you. It’s having an open-mind and trying to relate. It’s comprehension and justification of things you don’t completely understand. It’s trying to realize what motivates one who does something you would not. It’s not being afraid to accept the diversity of us all. It’s distinguishing the difference between trying to be like someone else and trying to be someone else. It’s admiration, not envy. It’s doing something because you know it’s right. It’s not trying to impress, and it’s not trying to meet others standards. It’s setting goals for yourself and getting stoked on meeting these goals. It’s being oblivious to stereotypes and it’s not judging others. It’s wanting to find friendship in all peers. It’s disregarding ones physical appearance and focusing on what they look like on the inside. It’s admitting your flaws and not trying to deny them. It’s doing whatever is necessary to love the life you live. It’s realizing you’re equal and trying to obtain success through dedication. It’s going where you want to go and doing what you want to do. It’s not expecting anyone to do anything for you. It’s being grateful for what you have and taking nothing for granted. It’s not depending on others and it’s not depending on family, on friends or on the government. It’s not relying on god and it’s accepting that most people are not going to help you. It’s realizing the selfishness of society and preparing for others to hurt you. "Think for yourself. Question authority."(Timothy Leary) It’s being at peace with your consciousness. It’s knowing things could always be much worse. It’s not waiting for change, it’s being the change. It’s thinking outside of the box. It’s realizing that there’s so much more than just what the media presents to you. It’s reading books, listening to music and even watching movies that affect your life or just make you feel good. It’s wanting to know something and researching it. It’s getting off of your lazy ass and learning something. This is America where every resource is available for your disposal. It’s wisdom and personal experience. It’s insight and enlightenment. It’s experimenting. It’s hearing each side to every story and not believing everything you hear. It’s knowing that this is it, this is life, and it’s all you got. It’s expression in every form. It’s ignoring popular trends and not wanting to look the same as everyone else. It’s respect. It’s appreciation and consideration. It’s the beauty found in dirt. It’s the good things found in “bad” people. It’s being able to be happy with nothing. It’s not needing drugs to pick up your mood. It’s accepting differences and it’s accepting that we all must be wrong sometime. It’s courage and self-reliance. It’s not wanting to be a robot. It’s never being ashamed of who you are and it’s not regretting what you’ve done. It’s loving the guy on the inside. “Wanting to be someone else is a waste of the person you are.”(Kurt Cobain) Don’t throw away the things you have and don’t waste your beatiful mind. You are worth cherishing. You are an individual.
