Ever since I turned sixteen, my mom has been on me about getting a job. The more she kept on, the more I started to want a job. Mostly, I wanted to make my mother happy, but also for the moneys. So this is how I met my goal of obtaining a job.
Just trying to find some place who was hiring was hard. Most of the places I went to basically just told me to leave. One night I happened to get lucky when a homie was telling me that the dishwasher at the restaurant he works at quit. You know I hopped on that. I offered to help for the night. They needed me that night so I went in and I worked hard. They offered me a permanent job so I took it. I was so stoked on the job I over-looked one problem, I had no transportation.
I had to work the following weekend so I needed to find transportation quick. It needed to be reliable transportation, too. I really didn’t want to mess this up. I had no driver’s license. I can’t drive a car legally. What was I going to do? I thought to ride my skateboard but I figured that would get old, quick. I looked on craigslist and I found a scooter for $500. I had the money and everything so I went and checked it out. It ran well, just a few sketchy parts. I paid cash up front and I rode off into the horizon on a moped that night. I was really happy, but my struggle to get paid was not yet over.
Finding a job was hard, but keeping the job and balancing it with my schoolwork was not easy either. I get off work really late some nights, making it hard to wake up for school early the next morning. I always have to do homework in the most random places because I never have time at home. i don’t really get mush time to chill with the homies, but I don’t mind.
When it comes down to it, it’s definitely worth having a job. It’s always nice have a steady flow of income. I probably wouldn’t be doing anything better with my time anyway. I achieved on goal and I looove my job.
